You may have heard that there was a potential schedule change for this weekends games scheduled at West. As it stands now the problem at West has been fixed and the games will played as originally scheduled at West. That is provided the weather clears and fields are playable. Stay tuned. This weather has been brutal but we are hoping to play the games as scheduled this weekend.January 30, 2011 - GAMES ARE ON!!

December 21, 2010 - AGM Results
The AGM was held last night and I want to thank those members of TASL that took the time to attend to elect the Board positions up for election and to vote on several By-law Amendments that were submitted. First, the results of the election of the Board positions:- Paul Heinisch was re-elected and will server another 2 year term as Rules, Revision and Regulations
- Alice Heinisch was re-elected and will serve another 2 year term as Treasurer
- Tom McGinnis was re-elected and will serve another 2 year term as Disciplinary Chair
- Keith Mello was elected and will serve a 2 year term as President of TASL
The Bylaw changes that were adopted will be incorporated into a new revision of the Bylaws by Paul Heinisch in the coming weeks and will post in the Forms and Info section here on the website.
Finally, I’d like to say that it was my privilege to represent TASL over the last 2 years and I’m proud of all the Board has accomplished in that time. I have been a playing member of TASL since its inception and I’m excited about the future of the league. Although I am still concerned that fields in Tracy will continue to be the main issue that the Board deals with in the coming years, I am confident that the Board will continue to solve any problems TASL encounters and provide a great league for all of us to play in. Thank you all for your support and I will see you out on the fields this coming Spring.
November 22, 2010 - Fall Playoff Tournament Results, Annual General Meeting and some serious business
What a great Fall Playoff Tournament we had. Coming into Sunday’s games every team had a chance to go through to either the Championship or the Consolation. The competition level was as high as it has ever been. At the end of the round-robin games on Sunday morning it was Pink Flamingos taking the top spot in Group A over DC Crew in 2nd place and Just 4 Kicks and Twisted FC were tied atop Group B with 22 points each. Just 4 Kicks took the top spot in Group B by the tie-breaker which amounted to 1 more goal scored than Twisted. 1 GOAL!! That’s how close this competition was.Due to the inclement weather the consolation game between Twisted FC and DC Crew was not played. However, rain and sloshy fields would not stop the match up between the 2 top teams. Just 4 Kicks held a 3-1 lead into the 2nd half. But the Pink Flamingos were not going to go down without a fight and rallied with 2 unanswered goals late in the 2nd half. Regulation ended with the teams tied at 3-3 and the game went to golden-goal extra time. Just 36 seconds into extra time Pink Flamingo’s put away the game winner and took the Fall Season Title.

2010 Coed Over 30/25 Fall Champions - Pink Flamingos
The next order of business for the league is the TASL Annual General Meeting. The AGM is the the one meeting each year where all current TASL members (anybody who was a registered player in the league during 2010 including Spring and Summer seasons) get to vote on Bylaw changes that have been submitted and nominate and elect the Board positions that are up for election.
TASL AGM
Date: Monday, December 20, 2010
Time: 6:30 PM
Place: Portugese Hall (430 W. 9th St. Tracy CA)
This year the following Board position are up for election:
- President (currently held by Phil Torretto)
- Disciplinary Chair (currently held by Tom McGinnis)
- Treasurer (currently held by Alice Heinisch)
- Rules, Regulations and Revisions (currently held by Paul Heinisch)
Now onto some more serious issues that the TASL Board is dealing with as result of a couple incidents that happened at our Fall Playoff that I want everybody to be aware of. The first incident was with alcohol being brought onto and being consumed by several members of one of the teams. As a result, 2 members of that team were suspended for one game in the tournament. I can’t stress how serious this is, as there is absolutely no alcohol allowed on school grounds. By these individuals simply bringing the alcohol on to school grounds TASL might have lost our Use Permits and might not have been granted permits in the future. TUSD simply will not tolerate it and neither can we. Some have said that the Board’s disciplnary action was too lax. In hindsight, that appears to be true. As a result, we are drafting playing rules spelling out more serious disciplinary action with regard to alcohol on school grounds. Please do not bring alcohol on school grounds.
The 2nd issue we are dealing with has to do with a physical confrontation a player initiated towards a center referee during the tournament. This incident has caused the Board to have to call 2 special meetings of the Board in order to sort out the proper disciplinary action. The Tournament Rules clearly indicate that physically pushing or attacking a referee requires a minimum of 1 year suspension. The Board convened that Sunday immediately following the tournament final and decided that the player in questions would serve a 1 year suspension from all TASL activities. There was some question as to whether the suspension should be from all TASL activites and whether the vote that was taken was done in accordance with our Bylaws. We therefore convened another special meeting and invited the player and manager in question to address the Board on the discipline handed down. In the end, the Board decided to uphold the 1 year suspension from all TASL activities (meaning all playing divisions). The message the Board feels it must send is that TASL will not tolerate any physical confrontations with our referees and that the discipline will include all TASL activities.
Finally, several people at the tournament and since have asked whether I will seek re-election as President. I informed the board two months ago and told anybody who asked that I will not be seeking re-election. I’ve served two years and I’ve accomplished the things I set out to accomplish when I accepted the nomination and was elected 2 years ago. I appreciate all the hard work that all my fellow Board members have put in for the last 2-years and I hope that at minimum you feel I’ve served the league with it’s best interest at heart. New blood is always good in any league that is comprised of volunteers and I hope that any member of this league that feels they have the desire and energy will not hesitate to offer their services to this great league. Thank you all.
November 1, 2010 - Fall Playoff Tournament is Here!!
Boy this Fall season just seemed to fly by and we are at the end of another year in TASL. Our 10th in fact. Here is the Playoff Schedule TASL 2010 FALL COED Tournament_Rev2The Pink Flamingos and Just 4 Kicks were the top 2 seeds from league play so they were placed in opposite Groups. The remaining teams in each group were selected by random draw. Because we are at 2 separate locations (West and Bohn) it made scheduling and logistics a bit more complicated. For Saturday, I decided to keep each group at a single location instead of having teams try to shuttle back and forth across town. Group A will play at Bohn on Saturday and Group B will play at West on Saturday. Be sure to check the schedule carefully for game times.
IMPORTANT: The playoff headquarters will be located at West; so every player must check in at West at least 1 hour prior their first game. All players must present a valid ID to get their wristband for the tournament. Please make sure players have enough time to check in and get to their field.
Also you may add up to 2 female and 2 male player for the tournament. Fee is $20 per player. All added players must have their registration form and fee submitted no later than 8 AM (this is a change from last season) on Saturday morning. if you'd like to add players before that please coordinate with our Registrar Tina Kuhlmann.
Looking forward to a great playoff tournament and seeing everybody at the field on Saturday.
October 5, 2010 - Halfway through the regular season; Playoffs right around the corner
We are now over halfway through the regular season and what great season it’s been. The level of play is as competitive as ever, and the upstart Pink Flamingos are showing they have come to TASL to play. The always strong and defending Spring Champions Galaxy have as usual put one of the strongest team on the field and are looking to repeat as Fall Champions. The retooled Just-4-Kicks is as strong as ever and hungry to regain their TASL glory. While the stalwart Smashing Pumpkins, Fusion and DC Crew have made some key additions and looking to upset the favorites. Real Tracy FC has struggled a bit with some personnel shortages but will no doubt be a team to be reckoned with come the playoffs. And finally, the team that is the wildcard in all this is the ALL NEW Twisted FC who made key off season additions and have shown they are capable of beating anybody on any given Sunday. The Fall Playoff Tournament will be played the weekend of November 6-7. Games will be played at Bohn and West. Team should plan to play 2 games on Saturday and 2-3 games on Sunday. Two groups of 4 team will be drawn; Group A and Group B. The top two team from the regular season will be place in opposite groups and the remaining teams will be drawn at random to fill the groups. Groups will be drawn after the final games on October 31 and the playoff schedule will posted and e-mailed out on Monday November 1.
Teams will be able to add 2 men and 2 women to their rosters for the playoffs. The fee is $20 per player. However, teams may still only have 2 women under the age of 25 on their rosters.
August 23, 2010 - Week 1 is in the books and Welcome Anthony Gama
Well the Fall season is under way with week 1 in the books. The Board is happy to announce that after 8 months of being vacant, Anthony Gama has stepped up to fill our Referee Coordinator position. Anthony brings years of referee experience and has been playing and refereeing in TASL for years as well. He will be a welcome addition to the Board and we all look forward to his contributions to league. Be sure to say “Hey” to him and thank him when you see him out a the field (Also be sure to direct all the complaints to him now as well. :-) Seriously though any suggestions/complaints you have to make our league better can be submitted to the Board in writing for consideration at our Monthly Meeting.) See everybody this Sunday before we have a break for the Labor Day weekend and truly get into Fall.August 16, 2010 - Fall Season Starts this Sunday 8/22
The Fall season is here. Games begin this Sunday 8/22 and will played at Bohn Elementary and West High. We have 1 field at each location. Game times will be at 9 AM and 11 AM at each location. The schedule is posted HERE. Because we will be split between two location, the Board asks that all team playing the 9 AM games be sure to arrive early enough to set up goals each Sunday. The team playing the 11 AM games will take down the goals. Thanks for your patience in getting the fields and schedules sorted out. Looking forward to great Fall season.July 22, 2010 - Summer 7v7 Over, Fall Season Right Around the Corner
The Summer 7v7 season concluded tonight and I think a good time was had by all teams. Thanks to everybody who played and made the summer season a successful one. Now it’s time to start planning and getting ready for the Fall Season. Team registration is August 3rd at 7PM at 1821 Alcott Place Tracy CA (Olivia’s house). Team managers should plan to have their player waiver forms and player fees submitted on that date. A mimimum of 11 players will be required to roster your team. Individual player that are looking for a team to play on should contact our registrar Tina Kuhlmann. Also, we are going to try something a little difference this season with regard to player registration and player passes. The difference is, we are not going to have player passes this season. (No more collecting DL's and pictures) This is being done to save time and effort for our registrar, referees and you as managers. What we are going to do is utilize an official team roster and the players’ drivers licenses (or official ID). Each player will still be required to fill out a TASL Waiver and pay the fee as usual, but we will also have each player put the 1st 4 digits of their Driver license on the Registration form as well. I will be updating the Player Waiver form to include a space for each player to put the 1st 4 digit of their drivers license, however if you have already downloaded the form please ask your players to include the 1st digits of the licence somewhere on the form. Once the player waiver and fee has been received and recorded by the registrar, that player will be placed that teams official roster. In each managers packet will be copies of the official roster that you will turn into the referees with the game card each game. The referee will review the official roster before the game and may ask to see the ID of players that are listed on the official rosters if there are questions of a players eligibility. This means that it will be the responsibility of each player to be sure to bring their Drivers license to each game.
This is very similar to how many tournaments are run and how many other adult leagues operate. It seems to work for them and alleviates a lot of effort for everybody. We are going to give this a try for the fall season and it obviously puts a lot of trust in you as managers. We are trusting that you will not attempt to bring in non-rostered players. Our bylaws are very clear that playing with non-rostered players is not allowed and anybody caught allowing non-rostered players to play will face disciplinary action.
Finally, many are concerned and asking where we will be playing this upcoming Fall season. The honest answer is: we don’t know yet. I have been in contact several times this summer with TUSD regarding West High and they are not going to make a decision on whether to grant our Use Application until August. What I can tell you is that we have use permits submitted to TUSD for West High, Hirsch Elementary and Bohn Elementary. Outside of those schools, we are going to inquire with Jefferson School District about Traina and with the City about the Old Tracy Ball Park. With the Summer season now over, our only priority is to secure the best fields possible. We’ll keep you posted.
May 25, 2010 - Summer 7v7 Schedule Posted
The Summer 7v7 schedule has been posted here. We start 1 week from tonight. Be sure to check the schedule carefully for game days each week. See everybody at the complex next week.May 21, 2010 - Summer 7v7 Starts 6/1
The Summer 7v7 season starts on Tuesday 6/1. We have 3 divisions: Men’s Over-25, Coed Open and Coed Over-30. Teams have been registered in each division but individual players looking to play must be registered by Thursday, May 27, 2010. Individual players should contact our Registrar Tina Kuhlmann to find a team looking for players. Games will be played at the Tracy Sports Complex starting at 7 PM. Schedules for each division will be posted soon.April 29, 2010 - Good News and Bad News.
First the bad news: I had to revise the schedule at the last minute this afternoon. The good news:****ALL GAMES WILL NOW BE PLAYED AT THE TRACY SPORTS COMPLEX******
I’m really happy that I was able to persuade the City to allow TASL to use both fields 1 and 2 for an extended time this weekend. The City really came through for us and I want to thank Mark Honberger. The revised schedule is posted here. Be sure to check it carefully as game times have changed. See everybody at the fields tomorrow.
April 28, 2010 - Spring Season Playoffs are HERE!
Spring Playoffs - The Spring Playoffs are this weekend; Sat 5/1 and Sunday 5/2. The schedule is posted here. We are playing at the Tracy Sport Complex and Bohn Elementary school. Bohn will be the tournament "headquarters" as we will be playing most of our games there. I did what I could to be sure everybody got 1 game on the Complex but some teams may play 2 games there. Real Tracy FC took the top spot with only 1 loss during the regular season and Smashing Pumpkins took 2nd with just 1 loss and 1 tie and wining the head-to-head tie break with Galaxy who also only had 1 loss and 1 tie. Groups were drawn by placing the 1st and 2nd place teams from the regular season in opposite groups and then randomly drawing the remaining teams to fill each group. Each team will play a round robin of 3 games within their group. After the 3 game round robin, the top teams from each group will go to the Championship game and runners-up from each group will play the consolation game. All teams are guaranteed 3 games. All games will be 35 minute halves. Teams may add up to 4 players (2 men and 2 women) however you may still only roster a maximum of two 18 - 24 year old women. Registration fee for new players for the playoffs is $20 each. All Players must check-in and get their wrist bands at Bohn prior to their first game of the tournament. Be sure to give yourselves enough time to check-in and get across town to the Complex.
April 7, 2010 - Don’t forget Field and Time changes starting this week
Just a quick reminder that we are playing at the Tracy Sports Complex starting this Sunday, April 11th. Be sure to check the revised schedule for game times. Teams playing at 9 AM will need to put up goals and teams playing at 1 PM and 3 PM will need to take down the goals.March 12, 2010 - Lot’s of Important Info
Fields: Reminder that we are playing at West as scheduled through March 28th. We then move to the Tracy Sports Complex starting on 4/11 (no games on 4/4 as that is Easter).Rescheduling Games in April: With our move to the Sports Complex we will have to reschedule games due to the fact that we only have 1 field. As such games will be played at 9, 11, 1 and 3. The revised schedule has been posted here. I know that the late game times are going to be in issue for some, but it is unavoidable. I will do my best to be sure early and late games are as evenly distributed as possible.
Make-Up Games: We will be making up 2 of the 3 games that have been rained out. This is not the norm for TASL but with as many rainouts as we've had the Board felt it was the right thing to do. The games that were scheduled on 1/31 will be made up on Sunday 4/25. The games that were scheduled on 2/7 will be made up as a double header on Sunday March 28th at West High. Your team will be playing 2 games that day; at 9 or 11 and then again at 1 or 3. I will include this in the revised schedule as well. We will not be making up the March 7th games that were cancelled. This will still give each team a 9 game regular season.
Playoffs: Playoff tournament will be on Sat 5/1 and Sun. 5/2. We will be playing in 2 locations. We have limited field time at the Sports Complex and have submitted use permits for Bohn Elementary. We are also going to inquire about a couple of other fields. This is going to make scheduling and playing difficult and more complicated. We apologize for the inconvenience. Teams will be required to check-in at the Sports Complex 1 hour prior to their first game even if your first game is at the other location. Please be sure to have your teams get their wrist bands as early as possible on Saturday 5/1.
Also, the playoff group draw was also brought up at our last Board meeting. It was suggested that we go back to purely random draw for groups. The Board discussed this at length and we feel that a purely random draw is not the best way to form the 2 groups for the playoffs. We feel that by putting the regularly season 1st and 2nd place teams in separate group give them each an opportunity to meet in the final, as well as not loading up 1 group with the top teams in the league thereby creating a competitive disadvantage for teams in the "Group of Death". We will continue to draw groups by placing the regular season 1st place team in group A and the 2nd place team in Group B and then filling each group by random draw. We feel this is a good compromise between a purely random draw and a draw based purely on regular season record.
Disciplinary Committees: As you may or may not know when a player receives a red card a Disciplinary Committee is form by Tom Mcginnis our Disciplinary Chair. In order to form these committees in the most timely manner when necessary, we are asking the each of you put forward four players on your teams that would be willing to serve on a committee if needed. The committees meet and review the send off report and talk to the player if he or she attends the committee meeting. Time commitment is minimal and usually these meeting don't last more than 30 - 60 minutes.
Kids: We love seeing the families come out to the fields to cheer on their parents. However last weekend there were several kids playing on the dirt piles and parking lot. Please don’t allow your kids play on the dirt piles or in the parking lot. Thanks.
Summer 7v7 Registration: It may seem like it's too early to even think about summer season but we want to get the info out ASAP. We will be holding our registration for the Summer 7v7 season on May 5th at Olivia Vieira's house. The Summer session will start on June 1, 2010. Games will be played Tues, Wed and Thurs. at 7PM at the Sports Complex. We are planing to field Coed 30/25, Coed Open and Men's division for the Summer Season. So start getting those teams ready.
March 12, 2010 - Who else is SICK of this weather?
We’re planning to play on Sunday as long as the rain stops by tonight and it’s sunny Sat and Sun as is forecast. But we all know how accurate the weather guys are. Actually this year they have been pretty accurate unfortunately. Keep on ear on the rain line 209-546-1522. We’ll be checking the fields at 6:30 AM on Sunday and the rain line will be updated with game and field status.March 11, 2010 - Blame it on Ben Franklin
Just a quick reminder that Daylight Saving Time starts this Sunday. Remember to “spring” your clocks forward 1 hour at 2 AM on Sunday morning (aka Saturday night). This will mean you lose 1 hour of sleep but think of the hour of daylight you’ll be gaining until next fall.March 9, 2010 - Fields Fields Fields
The big question on everybody’s mind these days is, does TASL have fields? In the last week there was a lot of frustration and many questions about what was going on with West High School, aside from the weather. Rumors were flying. We apologize for any stress this has caused. The answer is we will be playing at West High through March after which we’ll be moving over to the Tracy Sports Complex for April. On February 23, we received notification from TUSD that the fields at West High School were being closed due to their condition and so that repairs to the turf could be completed (you may have noticed the big pile of top soil). This was sprung on us without warning and obviously left us scrambling for the last couple of weeks. After many phone calls, meetings and e-mails to TUSD and the City of Tracy we were able to secure fields from the City starting April 4th which allowed us to persuade TUSD to postpone the closing of the West High fields until April. A lot of time and effort was put into resolving this unexpected development and we were trying to have a final resolution until making an official announcement. So provided the weather holds up we will playing as scheduled at West High through March. In the case of bad weather we will communicate as early as possible if games are cancelled on any Sunday. We typically check the fields both Saturday and first thing Sunday morning and make the call on cancellation as late as possible. Also, we are currently working on a revised schedule for April and hope to have that available by next weeks games. Furthermore, we are soliciting input from the managers on how best to make up some or all of the rained out games. We will be making up at least one game on Sunday 4/25. Other options to make up the other 2 cancelled games are to play double-headers on a Sunday or to play on a Saturday. However, the reality is that we may not be able to make up all games that have been rained out; especially if there are any more cancelations. This has been a reality in TASL for as long as it’s existed. Traditionally rain-outs have not been rescheduled, but because we’ve had so many this season we are doing what we can to make up at least some of these games. Again, we thank you for your patience. We will be updating the rain line and website more frequently so that the league can be more informed when situations like this arise
One final issue still to be resolved is the end of the season playoffs. We were able to secure some field time at the Sports Complex for May 1st and 2nd. However this is not enough for the entire tournament. The Board is looking at options but the reality is we will most likely be forced to play at 2 different locations for the playoffs. We’ll keep you posted when we have more information. But the bottom line is that playoffs will be played as planned on May 1st and 2nd.
February 20, 2010 - Fields are Prepped and Ready for Tomorrow
We have been out prepping and painting the fields this morning. They are ready for tomorrow. While I wouldn’t say they are in great shape, not playing on them for the past 3 weeks has allowed them to dry out. The fields should be able to handle any light rain that may fall tonight or tomorrow. Our plan is to play tomorrow even if it is raining. Only the most inclement weather would force another cancellation. So we’ll see you at the fields tomorrow to finally start this season.February 6, 2010 - Mother Nature is just not cooperating
GAMES FOR SUNDAY 2/7/10 ARE CANCELLED. Unfortunately the fields are still saturated and quite sloshy. With more rain scheduled for tonight and possibly tomorrow we feel it is better to give the fields another week to dry out. I know this is frustrating. The Board will discuss if it is possible to make up these 2 cancelled games. On bright side everybody can now plan their Super Bowl parties for Sunday. Thanks for understanding and have a great weekend.February 2, 2010 - Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow
Which means we’re in for another 6 weeks of winter. I don’t know about you but I’m ready for some warm dry weather so we can get back to playiing on Sundays. However, rain is forecast for today, tomorrow, Friday and maybe even Saturday. We are still planning to play AS SCHEDULED (we will playing the games scheduled for 2/7 so there is no confusion). We’ll determine the condition of the fields on Saturday morning when we attempt to line them again this weekend. If the fields are still not mowed and have standing water, we’ll be forced to cancel again. The Board will determine how best to make up these rain outs and keep you posted. Be sure to check here for game status or call the TASL Weather and Info Line: 209-546-1522January 30, 2010 - GAMES FOR 1/31 ARE CANCELLED
Well we’ve just come back from the fields at West High and unfortunately the fields are unplayable for this weekend. A combination of standing water and grass that has been unable to be mowed due to the weather has left the fields in a condition that would be unsafe for play. As a result, games scheduled on 1/31 are CANCELLED. We will look to play the games as scheduled next weekend February 7. We will look to play the games scheduled for 1/31 at the end of the season on 4/25. Thanks for your understanding.January 29, 2010 - Are you ready?
First game of the season is just days away. We hope. Just got word that many of the fields in Tracy are currently closed due to saturation from all of the rain over the last couple of weeks. Also got word that West High was quite “sloshy” and hadn’t been mowed in a while due to the rain. We are going out to West tomorrow to paint the fields and determine their playability. We’ll make the decision then as to whether they are too saturated to play on and let everybody know. Also have some changes for the upcoming season:
- The Coed end of season playoffs will be on 5/1 - 5/2. We are leaving Sunday 4/25 open for a make up game as we will probably be rained out at least 1 game this season.
- We are attempting to put together a “Pick Up” League for Men. There will be no teams. Men 18 & over can register to play. For $25 they will get 8 games starting Sunday 2/21. Games will be at 1:30 and each week 2 different teams will be formed each week. We will also allow weekly drop in players. This is an experiment to see if we can keep the men’s division going this Spring and hopefully draw more player for the Summer and Fall seasons. We will need to register at least 30 players by 2/14 to make this happen. Please contact Phil Torretto, Paul Heinisch or Tina Garcia for more info
January 25, 2010 - Spring Schedule Posted
We are just 6 days from the start of the Spring Season. We have some good news and bad news. The good news is that our Coed division has grown to 8 teams with return of Frank Cordero’s Atlas. It will be good to see Atlas back on the field inTASL. This also means that there will be no bye weeks. YEAH!! The bad news is that with only 2 teams, it looks like we won’t be able to field our normal men’s division. The Board will be discussing options for the men this week and we’ll keep you posted. If you have any suggestions for the men’s division let us know. The Coed Schedule is here. TASL Spring 2010 Coed Schedule Let’s hope the rain clears up by the weekend. But if it is raining on Saturday and Sunday be sure to call the TASL Weather and Info Line: 209-546-1522January 21, 2010 - The Spring Season is here.
Happy New Year. Hard to believe but the 2010 Spring season starts in just 10 days on January 31, 2010. Games will be played at West High and schedules will be posted this weekend. We currently have 8 Coed teams registered, but several are still looking for players, especially women. Please contact Tina Garcia to be placed on a team. Registration fee is $55. We are also still looking for Men’s teams to play in our Men’s division. Looking forward to getting back out on the field.November 15, 2009 - And the 2009 Playing Year Comes to an End
This weekend’s Men’s Playoff Tournament ended the 2009 TASL playing season. Overall it was another successful year for TASL. The 2009 year saw the level of play increase and the 2 finals in the Fall Playoffs were a great examples of that. Arsenal battled Galaxy in a highly entertaining Coed Division final. It was a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation. Arsenal put away the “golden goal” in extra time. In the Men’s Final, the Pumpkins jumped out to an early 4-0 lead against Boca Jr. Boca Jr showed no quit scoring 3 unanswered goals in the in 2nd half before the Pumpkins netted an insurance goal late. Boca Jr never gave up, and nearly tied the game with 2 shots off the post. But the Pumpkins FC held on to win their 3rd Men’s Division Championship in row.Congratulation to our Fall 2009 Champions:
Coed 30/25 Division:
Arsenal
Men’s Division:
Pumkins FC
The Board is looking for more ways to improve the league for the upcoming 2010 season. I spoke with each team at the Coed Playoff tournament regarding the conditions of the playing fields and whether each team would be willing to travel outside of Tracy to play on better fields. I have heard back from several teams that have expressed their desire to stay in Tracy. The Board understands and appreciates the candid feedback. As such, TASL will remain in Tracy for the 2010 season. We have secured the West High Fields for the Spring 2010 season. As president, I have made it my priority to explore our options to secure better playing fields, however we are limited in Tracy. I will continue to work with City to find ways for the TASL to use both the Tracy Sports Complex or Placencia Fields. Contrary to any rumors you may have heard, TASL will be back and better than ever for the 2010 playing year.
The next order of Business for TASL is the AGM. The AGM is scheduled for December 14, 2009 at the Portuguese Hall, 430 W 9th St. The primary purpose of this meeting is to elect the Board positions that are up for election and to vote on any By-law amendments that have been proposed. All registered members of TASL during the 2009 playing season are eligible to attend and vote at the AGM. The Executive Board Position that are up for election in 2009 are: Vice President, Registrar, Referees Coordinator, and Secretary.
November 4, 2009 - The End of the 2009 Playing Year is Here
Sorry for delay in updating this website (more on that below). The Coed Division Playoff Tournament is this weekend 11/7 and 11/8. The schedule was e-mailed to all managers on Monday and can be downloaded here: TASL_2009_FALL_PLAYOFF_COGames will be 35 minute halves. All teams are guaranteed 3 games. Remember that if a team is planning to add players for the tournament, the completed registration form and fee for the new players are due to the Registrar prior to their first game on Saturday. Please have all players check-in ~1 hour before their first game.
Dates for the Men’s Division Fall Playoffs are as follows:
- Mens Division Playoffs: November 14 - 15
With the end of the 2009 Playing Season it is time to take care of some league business. The Annual General Meeting has been set for December 14, 2009. The location is still being determined and we’ll post that as soon as we have the location set. The AGM is where certain board position are elected and any proposed By-Law changes are voted on each year. All players and managers who have been members of the league in the 2009 playing year are eligible to vote at the AGM. Also eligible league members may submit proposed by-law changes for league consideration. All By-Law changes must be submitted in writing and cite the proper Section which is beeing added or changed. Please submit in writing all By-Law proposals to our Rules and Regulations Coordinator Paul Heinisch no later than November 14, 2009.
Finally I’d like end this news entry to let you know why the update to the website was delayed. I want to share this with you so that we remember to take of ourselves and each other especially with the Holiday season approaching. Many of you know our referee Alex Montes. Alex started refereeing for TASL in 2009 and lead our Referee Workshop that we held earlier this year. He has done many games during the 2009 playing and has brought a lot experience to our referee core. What you may not have realized or known is that he is Maureen Torretto’s (manager of the Smashing Pumpkins) father, making him my father-in-law. Alex suffered a heart attack on Monday morning and was in the hospital for 2 days. Luckily the heart attack was mild and he went to a hospital in time to be treated. He is now resting at home and will make a full recovery after having an angioplasty. Obviously Alex will not be able to referee in the upcoming tournaments and we’ll miss him on the field. Even more importantly, DO NOT IGNORE symptoms such as: shortness of breath, chest pain/tightness, sweating profusely, pain in the arms, persistent indigestion/heartburn. Alex exhibitted these symptoms for days before finally going to the hospital. We feel very lucky that his heart attack was only a “yellow card” for him. For many it ends up being a “red card”. Take care of yourselves and let’s have fun this weekend.
September 30, 2009 - Mid-Season Registration, New Policies and Fall Playoffs
Mid-season registration of players must be completed by this Saturday Oct 3 @ 5PM. Registration Fee is $30. Contact the Registrar ASAP if you are planning to register players for this Sunday’s games. The TASL Board adopted 2 new policies regarding player registration at our last Board Meeting. We have revised our TASL Registration policy which can be found here. Due to the difficulty and chaos related to registering players on game day, TASL will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING PLAYER REGISTRATIONS ON THE DAY OF GAMES (SUNDAY). Per the new policy, player registrations must be turned into the Registrar by Saturday @ 5PM. While this change will require managers to get registrations turned in earlier, it will alleviate a lot of issues on game day and allow the Board Members to focus on playing and field set up. Thanks for understanding. On the positive side, TASL is now allowing Coed Over 30/25 teams to register up to 2 women players between the age of 18-24. This will give teams an expanded ability to fill their rosters and give some young women the ability to play in TASL.
Fall Playoffs are just around the corner. Dates for the Fall Playoffs are as follows:
- Coed Over-30/25 Division Playoffs: November 7 - 8
- Mens Division Playoffs: November 14 - 15
August 24, 2009 - Field Conditions
We have received much feed back on the conditions of the fields at West High this past weekend. We understand that the fields are in pretty poor shape and we will be working with the school district to see what can be done and what other options we may have for fields. Unfortunately, with TYSL and Tracy FC youth programs in full swing the Sports Complex and Placencia are not options for TASL at this time. Thanks for your patience and understanding. The Board has put playing fields at the top of our priority list but there just aren’t a lot of options in Tracy right now. Feel free to e-mail the President with any suggestion you have.August 18, 2009 - Fall Season is here.
The fall season is here. The 1st games of the fall season are this Sunday August 23, 2009. The schedules are posted here. Be sure to check your game times as there are some differences in the scheduled times for both divisions this season. This was done to accommodate several requests we’ve had to rotate the Men’s division games in the morning as well. IMPORTANT: The TASL Playing Rules have also been revised and updated for the Fall Season. They can be downloaded HERE. We have modified the “5 foot rule in the coed division” and we have made ALL goals worth 1 point. We have 7 teams in our Coed division and 4 in the Men’s division. Looks like another very competitive season in TASL. Good luck to all. Remember to stay hydrated as the weather is still hot and probably will be through Sept.
July 9, 2009 - Summer Season coming to a close. Time for some fun and to get ready for the Fall season.
The summer season is in its final weeks. It has been a very lively and fun 7v7 season and having the “youngsters” out there has been great, if not difficult for the old folks trying to keep up with them. On another positive note, it seems that our Mens division is thriving and even growing. We hope to be able to expand this division to 6 teams in the fall, so if you know any men looking to play soccer be sure to let them know about TASL. Our Coed Over-30/25 division continues to be our most popular division and we look forward to another strong Fall season.Speaking of the Fall Season; believe it or not it’s right around the corner. We are scheduled to start the Fall season at the end of August. In order to get ahead of the game, we are planning to hold our Team registration on Wednesday, July 29th. So Managers please download the Team Registration form and the Player Waiver Form and get those rosters completed.
Finally, the Board would to invite all TASL players and their families to attend our 1st Annual Summer BBQ/Picinic. TASL has reserved the Tracy Wildlife park and will providing water, soda and a BBQ for everybody to use. We hope that you will attend. Please download the flyer with all of the information. TRACY ADULT SOCCER LEAGUE PICNIC
June 11, 2009 - Summer Season off to a great start
We finished the 2nd week of the Summer 7v7 tonight and the games have all been competitive for the most part. The Men’s teams playing the Coed Open teams seems to be going well and the men definintely shouldn’t under estimate the coed teams. We are making do with the Bohn fields and while I know we’d all rather play out at the Complex every night the City only granted us the Complex 1 night/week. We were considering moving the Bohn games to West High but after assessing the fields we feel the Bohn are acutally the better fields. We’ll continue to play at Bohn 2 nights/week and the Complex 1 night/week.May 29, 2009 - Slight Change of Plans for Men and Coed Open Divisions
Over the last couple of days we’ve had a change of plans in the Coed Open Division. Unfortunately, one of the teams had to back out this summer leaving us with only 3 teams. We were left with the prospect of canceling the Coed Open. However, some creative thinking has led us to try a solution that will allow the 3 Coed Open teams to play this summer AND have no BYE games for the Men’s division. Since both divisions have an odd number of teams each division would have a team on bye each week. We’ve decided to have the Men’s bye team play the Coed Open bye team each week. This allows us to give every team an 8 game season in 8 weeks and should make for some fun and interesting games. The Coed Open teams have youth and speed on their side while the men have power and experience. Men’s teams need to be sure to look at the Coed Open Schedule to see which weeks they’ll be playing those team. All games are at 6:45 at either Bohn Elementary or Tracy Sports Complex.May 28, 2009 - Men’s Spring Playoff Results and Prep for Summer 7v7
Hard to believe it’s been a month since we finished the Spring Season playoffs. The Men’s tournament was a hard fought series of games between the 4 teams. In the end it was the Smashing Pumpkins that came out on top winning all 3 of their games. Congrats to the Pumpkin Men for back-to-back Fall and Spring titles. Planning for the Summer 7v7 has been in progress and we are ready to start the season next Tuesday, June 2nd. Team registrations have been completed but we will be accepting individual player registration during the 1st two weeks of the season only. If team would like to add individual players or if individual players are looking for teams please contact our Registrar Tina Garcia immediately to arrange to register players. The rules for the Summer 7v7 have been posted on the Forms and Info page. Schedules are also posted but check back as they could change in the next couple of days.April 29, 2009 - Coed Playoffs a success; Men’s Playoffs this Weekend
The Coed Playoffs went off without a hitch thanks to hard work of many people. The quality of play was outstanding by all 7 teams. The final between Arsenal and Just-4-KIcks was highly entertaining to watch and illustrated the high caliber of play. Congratulation to Just-4-Kicks who took home their 2nd TASL Spring Championship in 4 years. This weekend the highly spirited Men’s teams will take to the fields in a 3 game round robin tournament. TASL 2009 SPRING MEN_finalApril 21, 2009 - Coed Playoffs this Weekend; Men’s Playoffs Next Weekend
In some ways it seems like we just started the Spring Season, but it’s that time of year. The Coed playoffs are this weekend April 25th and 26th. The schedule for the Coed playoff is here. TASL 2009 COED SPRING PLAYOFF SCHEDULE The Men’s playoff schedule will be the weekend of May 2nd and 3rd and will be posted soon. Remember to stay hydrated in the hot weather.March 2009
March 26, 2009 - Referee Workshop on Monday 3/30/09
As means to improve the quality of play in the league the Board of Directors is sponsoring a workshop for leagues referees. This workshop will be held on Monday March 30, 2009 at the Tracy Sports Complex conference room and will be lead by Alex Montes. Alex brings 40+ years of soccer knowledge and will be focusing on reviewing the laws of the game and on game management for referees. We have invited all of the referees in the league as well each team manager to attend. We have also asked each manager to invite 2 players from each team to attend. We hope that by getting referees, managers and some players on the same page with regard to the laws we can lessen the amount of dissent and frustration directed at the referees. We are excited to be able to offer this training and feel that it will make our league that much better.March 22, 2009 - Games are currently ON
As of 7:00 am the fields are playable and games are on. However, rain is threatening so be sure to check the Weather line throughout the day if the weather turns bad.March 5, 2009 - Meet your new Referee Coordinator - Tamim Rahin

February 2009
February 27, 2009 - Games at West High starting 3/1
Don’t forget that we are moving back to our “home” at West High starting this week. While it was good that we were able to use Bohn and Hirsh I’m sure we’re all happy to get back out to West.February 22, 2009 - Games are ON! For now
We will try to get the games in today. At 7:15 am the fields were dry and playable and it was not raining. There is rain in forecast today so we’ll see if the weather holds up. I’ll update the Info and Weather line as the day goes on if conditions change. It is very windy and cold so be sure to wear the under armor and keep warm. See everybody at the fields.February 16, 2009 - Hope you all had a great holiday weekend
We hope everybody had a great Valentine’s Day and holiday weekend. The rain has been heavy and it is fortunate that we were already scheduled to be off this past weekend. The forecast is for the rain to continue throughout the week but hopefully it’ll break by this weekend so that we can get back to playing. We’ll keep the Info and Weather line and website updated so continue to check them for game status. Also, our regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Board of Directors is tonight our Vice President Olivia Vieira’s residence (e-mail for the address and directions). These meetings are open to all league members if you’re interested in attending or have something you’d like the Board to address. Finally, we have received a lot a great pictures from several teams; keep them coming. We have received so many that we are figuring out the best way display them on the website.February 8, 2009 - Games are ON!
Games will be played as scheduled today. Play hard, have fun, be safe.February 7, 2009 - Rain Rain go away
The weather for the last couple of days in Tracy has been rainy and the forecast for tomorrow is for scattered showers. Hopefully the fields will be playable and the rain will be lite. We will be checking the fields early tomorrow morning and updating this website and the new Weather line. Be sure to check back then.February 4, 2009 - New TASL Info and Weather Line: 209-546-1522
The new Info and Weather Line is now ACTIVE!! FINALLY. Please note the new number. It is a voicemail only line so it does not ring anywhere. We will be using this as a way communicate field conditions on game days when the weather is bad and other important TASL information. You will also be able to leave a brief message for the league. Be sure to save the number in your cell phone and check it this weekend as the forecast is for rain this weekend in Tracy.Febrary 2, 2009 - Great Start to the 2009 Spring Season
Yesterday the 2009 Spring season got off to a great start with 5 excellent matches. We hope everbody’s legs aren’t too sore. I know I’m feeling it today. However, we want to clarify the registration processes at this point. We held our main registration night on January 19th and have been accepting late registrations since. Our Registrar, Tina Garcia, has a very big task in getting all of the paper work in order, getting the player passes sorted and pre-printing the Game Cards. She has done a tremendous job. We will only be accepting additional registrations this Sunday Feb. 8 up until 30 minutes before game time. This will allow us enough time to get players registered without holding up the match. Any player that is not registered prior to 30 minutes before game time will not be eligible to play. Furthermore, under no circumstances is any player to participate in a TASL match without having submitted a signed Waiver form, payment and have a valid Player Pass (unless Tina, or an assigned Board Member, has personally verified eligibility by adding the player to the game card). There are no exceptions, as this is a liability issue and a condition of the league insurance. Thanks for understanding and be sure to have any new players register as early as possibleJanuary 2009
January 30, 2009 - New TASL Info and Weather Line
Unfortuanately we could not sort out the mix up with the old TASL phone line, so it was just easier to set up a new line. So please change your contact info for the TASL Info and Weather line. This number will go “live” very soon and it will updated with important TASL information and you will be able to leave a message for the league.January 29, 2009 - Please respect city park closures
Got an e-mail from the City informing me that there were TASL teams practicing at a city park that had signage indicating that the park was closed. Please respect the City’s wishes to stay off fields when they are closed. I know that it’s sometimes hard to find fields to play on, but we want to maintain a good relationship with the City. Only 3 days until to the start of the season. We’re looking forward to seeing everybody on Sunday.January 26, 2009 - Schedules have been posted
It’s time to play. The schedules are posted; just click on the Schedules tab above. Hope you like the new format. They are a bit more interactive. You can click to see the entire season schedule or you can click on any individual team and see that teams schedule. You can also click on a field and see what matches are scheduled for that field. Also the TASL Info and Weather line is currently down. Don’t worry AT&T is straightening it out and it should be back up before the weekend. Not that we’ll need it. Keep good thoughts for sunny skies for the opening day of the 2009 TASL soccer season.January 25, 2009 - Men will play 11v11 after all
Great news! The Men’s division will be able to play 11v11. This is great news and shows that interest in our league and especially the Men’s division is growing. Exactly one week to go and I hear that many teams are out there practicing right now. Looking forward to seeing everbody on the pitch next Sunday. Be safe.January 23, 2009
The 2009 Spring Season is right around the corner. Are you ready? Games are scheduled to begin on Sunday, February 1 (schedule will be posted soon). Unfortunately the West High fields were not available to TASL for the month of February, so we will playing at both Bohn Elementary and Hirsch Elementary during Feb. We currently have 7 teams registered for the Over-30/25 Coed division and 4 teams registered for the Over-25 Men’s division. However it appears that the Men’s division will be 7v7. If you or anybody you know is interested in playing (especially in the Men’s division) please drop our Registrar Tina Garcia a line.In order to make the site a little more visually interesting we’re planning to put up a “TASL picture page”. So if you have any pictures of your team in action please e-mail them to us.
